NYC 2012. NEW PARK : the GREEN MACHINE

Tomorrow's New York will be shaped by a new attitude towards its natural and constructed landscapes. Our design for a sustainable Olympic Village will be the first large-scale project in this fundamental shift and is based on five simple ideas. 1.The production of a new park uniting the Olympic Village with the surrounding neighborhoods. 2 The creation of an Olympic ring which extends Jackson Avenue around the Village 3. The placement of five slender river towers where athletes and residents will live with extraordinary panoramic views. 4. The creation of new super-blocks extending the Hunters Point street pattern over the new park and into the Olympic Village. 5. The formation of a new transit hub below the new park where the Long Island Railroad meets the river taxi terminal.
