North Carolina Museum of Art
In Collaboration
with: Barbara Kruger, Artist; Nicholas Quennell, Landscape Architect; Guy
Nordenson, Structural Engineer. The Master Plan for the North Carolina Museum
of Art involves a programmatic investigation and critique of contemporary
conditions of twentieth-century art and landscape, and their relationship
to a 167-acre site in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Textualized Landscape melds
the concepts of spectacle, site, and text into a public space which expands
the museum’s capacity for outdoor programs. Engaging ideas of history,
culture, geography and topography, this public space provides an accessible
place for a variety of experiences in the landscape.
