Chicago Public Schools Design Competition

For "Big Shoulders...Small Schools" competition finalists Smith-Miller + Hawkinson proposed a bent band of three C-shaped "clusters" surrounding a court-yard 'Commons' area. Recalling Aldo van Eyck, the Commons draws the clusters into relationship by means of a large roof plane punctuated by large circular skylights.
